Emory at Decatur Gynecologic Oncology provides a full range of gynecologic cancer treatment in Atlanta. Our Atlanta women's cancer services include:
Some minor procedures are done in the office while others may be scheduled as either hospital outpatient or inpatient surgeries. You will be informed of these options so you may decide, along with the physician, which is most appropriate and desirable.
Established patients are followed routinely on a two-, three-, four-, six- or 12-month basis as long as there is a need for gynecologic oncology services. Once our specialized services are no longer necessary, patients return to their referring physicians for long-term care.
Our physicians also participate in clinical trials, which are research studies that test new drug treatments for cancer and other diseases. Some clinical trials test drugs that are experimental and other trials use FDA-approved drugs in new doses or different combinations, or use drugs for different diseases than the ones they were originally approved to treat. These trials are performed under strict legal and ethical guidelines, and our doctors closely monitor all research to ensure the best care for our patients. Participating in clinical trials is voluntary, and refusal to participate in a clinical trial will not change how your doctor feels about you or how you will be treated at our office.
